Life Path Number Calculator (Numerology, with Master Numbers & Karmic Debt)
Calculate your numerology life path number from your birth date step by step, with master numbers 11, 22 and 33, karmic debt numbers, your birthday number and the traditional meaning of each life path from 1 to 33.
How it works
Reduce the month, the day and the year of birth separately to one digit (keeping 11, 22 and 33), add them, then reduce the total by adding its digits until one digit or a master number remains · karmic debt: 13, 14, 16 or 19 appearing just before the final reduction · birthday number = the day of birth reduced
In Pythagorean numerology the life path number, derived from the full birth date, is considered the most important number in a chart. The usual method reduces month, day and year separately before adding, which preserves the "master numbers" 11, 22 and 33; adding every digit at once usually gives the same single digit but can hide a master number. The calculator shows every step and the traditional archetype. Numerology is a belief system with no scientific basis — enjoy it as entertainment and self-reflection, not as prediction.
Worked example
Birth date May 15, 1990: month 5; day 15 → 1 + 5 = 6; year 1990 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 10 → 1. Then 5 + 6 + 1 = 12 → 1 + 2 = 3: life path 3, "The Communicator". The birthday number is 6 and there is no karmic debt.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my life path number by hand?
Write your birth date as numbers, reduce month, day and year to single digits (keeping 11, 22, 33), add them and reduce again. Example: 11/29/1987 → 11, 29 → 11, 1987 → 25 → 7; 11 + 11 + 7 = 29 → 11, a master number.
What are master numbers?
11, 22 and 33 are not reduced in numerology because they are believed to carry a heightened version of 2, 4 and 6. They are written 11/2, 22/4 and 33/6.
What is a karmic debt number?
In numerology, 13, 14, 16 and 19 appearing in the calculation before the final digit are called karmic debt numbers (written 13/4, 14/5, 16/7, 19/1) and are read as lessons carried over from past lives.
Is numerology scientific?
No. Numerology has no empirical support; the meanings are traditional and symbolic. The arithmetic is exact, the interpretation is for entertainment.
