How it works

Fees = price×selling% + (price×processing% + fixed) · You receive = price − fees · Profit = payout − item cost

Mercari’s seller cost has two parts: a selling fee that is a percentage of the sale, and a payment-processing fee (a percentage plus a fixed amount). Mercari has changed its fee model over time and it differs by region, so both the selling fee and the processing fee are editable here — set the selling fee to 0 if your marketplace has moved to a buyer-paid service fee instead. The tool shows your payout, the effective combined rate, and your profit once your own item cost is removed. Buyer-paid shipping is not deducted.

Worked example

A $30 sale with a 10% selling fee = $3.00 and processing of 2.9% + $0.50 = $1.37, for $4.37 in fees. You receive $25.63, an effective rate of 14.6%. After an $8 item cost your profit is $17.63 — a 58.8% margin.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Mercari charge sellers?

Historically a 10% selling fee plus a payment-processing fee of about 2.9% + $0.50. Mercari has revised this over time and by country — in some markets the selling fee moved to a buyer-paid service fee. Set the selling fee to 0 and adjust processing to match your current terms.

Who pays for shipping on Mercari?

Either the buyer pays at checkout or you offer free shipping and cover a prepaid label. This calculator does not deduct shipping so it reflects buyer-paid postage; if you cover shipping, subtract that label cost from the profit shown.

How is the effective fee rate calculated?

It is the total of the selling fee and processing fee divided by the sale price. Because the processing fee includes a fixed amount, the effective rate is higher on cheaper items and drifts toward the selling-fee percentage as prices rise.
