How it works

business days = days in the counted range − weekend days − public holidays on working days − extra holidays · work weeks = business days ÷ working days per week · working hours = business days × hours per day

The calculator walks every date in the range you choose — both ends, only one of them, or just the days in between — and sorts each one into a working day or a weekend day, using the weekend you pick (Saturday and Sunday, Sunday only, or Friday and Saturday). It then takes out the public holidays that land on a working day: US federal holidays with their observed Friday or Monday dates, Mexico’s official rest days from Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law (optionally with the bank holidays of Holy Week, November 2 and December 12), or Spain’s national holidays, including Good Friday, with an option for Holy Thursday. Holidays that fall on a weekend are listed but not taken out twice. Regional, local or company days off can be added as a number. The result comes with work weeks, working hours, a month-by-month table and the list of holidays found.

Worked example

From Tuesday, September 1 to Wednesday, September 30, 2026, counting both dates, there are 30 calendar days: 8 are weekend days and 22 are business days. Choose US federal holidays and Labor Day (Monday, September 7) comes out, leaving 21 business days — 4.2 work weeks or 168 working hours at 8 hours a day. With Mexico’s rest days instead, Independence Day (Wednesday, September 16) is the one removed, which also gives 21.

Frequently asked questions

Are the start and end dates counted?

By default both are counted when they are working days, which suits a project window. Choose “Exclude the start date” for deadlines worded “N business days after” a date, “Exclude the end date” to match tools that count up to the end date, or “Exclude both dates” for only the days in between.

Which public holidays are included?

Pick US federal holidays (Saturday holidays move to the Friday, Sunday ones to the Monday), Mexico’s official rest days under Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law, Mexico plus the bank holidays of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, November 2 and December 12, Spain’s national holidays, or Spain plus Holy Thursday. Easter-based holidays are calculated for each year.

What about state, regional or company holidays?

They vary too much to list, so enter how many of them fall on working days in your range under “Extra holidays to subtract” and they are taken off the total.

What if a holiday falls on a weekend?

It is shown in the holiday table but not subtracted, because that day was never a working day. Only the US list moves weekend holidays to an observed weekday.

Can I count a six-day week?

Yes. Under More options choose “Sunday only” as the weekend and Saturdays count as working days; “Friday and Saturday” suits much of the Middle East.

How are working hours worked out?

Business days are multiplied by the hours per day you enter (8 by default). Set it to 0 to hide the figure.
