How it works

working days until = days in the counted range − weekend days − public holidays on working days − your days off · work weeks = working days ÷ working days per week · working hours = working days × hours per day

The calculator walks every date from the day after your start date up to and including the target date — the usual reading of “working days until” — and drops the weekend days. You can change that to count the start date too, to stop the day before the target, or to count only the days in between. It can then take out public holidays that land on a working day: US federal holidays with their observed Friday or Monday dates, Mexico’s official rest days under Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law (optionally with the bank holidays of Holy Week, November 2 and December 12), or Spain’s national holidays. Vacation, leave and regional holidays can be subtracted as a number of days off. A Sunday-only or Friday–Saturday weekend is available under More options. The answer comes with work weeks, working hours, a month-by-month table, the list of holidays found and charts.

Worked example

Counting from Tuesday, September 15, 2026 to Friday, December 25, 2026 spans 101 calendar days. 28 of them are Saturdays or Sundays, which leaves 73 working days (Christmas is a Friday, so it counts). Choose US federal holidays and Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas come out, leaving 69. Subtract 5 days of planned vacation and 64 working days remain — 12.8 work weeks or 512 hours at 8 hours a day.

Frequently asked questions

Is today counted?

Not by default. The start date is skipped and the target date is counted when it is a working day, which matches phrasing like “10 working days from today”. Change “Which days count” to include the start date, leave out the target date, or count only the days in between.

Can it remove public holidays?

Yes. Choose US federal holidays, Mexico’s official rest days (with or without the bank holidays), or Spain’s national holidays (with or without Holy Thursday). Holidays that fall on a weekend are listed but not subtracted twice.

How do I subtract my vacation days?

Open More options and enter the number of days off you will take on working days before the target. They are taken off after weekends and public holidays.

What if the target date is in the past?

The calculator swaps the dates, counts the working days between them, and notes that the date has already passed.

Can I count a six-day week?

Yes. Under More options choose “Sunday only” as the weekend, or “Friday and Saturday” for a Middle-East week.
