Working Days Left Until Deadline Calculator
Count the working days (Mon–Fri) between today and a deadline, alongside the calendar days, so you know your real runway.
How it works
working days = weekdays (Mon–Fri) from the day after the start through the deadline − holidays
Calendar countdowns overstate how much time you really have, because weekends are not work time. Counting only Monday through Friday between now and the deadline gives the actual runway for getting something done, and subtracting known public holidays that land on weekdays sharpens it further. The start date is treated as already under way, so the count runs from the next day through the deadline itself — the way most people picture "days left".
Worked example
From September 16 to October 16, 2026 is 30 calendar days. Eight of those fall on weekends, leaving 22 working days; remove one public holiday and 21 working days remain.
Frequently asked questions
Does the deadline day itself count?
Yes — if it is a weekday it is included as a working day, since you can usually still work on it. The start date is treated as in progress, so counting begins the following day.
Why enter holidays manually?
Public holidays vary by country, region and year, so there is no reliable universal list. Enter the number of weekday holidays that fall inside your window and they are removed from the working-day count.
What if the deadline is in the past?
The calculator tells you how many days ago it passed rather than showing a negative count, so a mistyped date is obvious.
