Project Deadline (Working Days) Calculator
Add a number of working days to a start date to find the true deadline, skipping weekends and any holidays you set aside.
How it works
deadline = walk forward from the start, counting only Mon–Fri until the required working-day count is reached, then skip forward past each holiday · calendar days = deadline − start
Deadlines quoted in “business days” drift on the calendar because weekends do not count. This walks the calendar one day at a time, tallying only Monday through Friday, so a 15-working-day task never lands on a Saturday. Any holidays you list are treated as non-working days: the deadline is pushed further out so the promised amount of actual work time is preserved. Choose whether the start date itself is working day 1 or work begins the following day.
Worked example
Starting Monday with 15 working days needed and 2 holidays in the span: 15 weekdays reach three weeks out, then two holiday days push the deadline two more workdays later — roughly 25 calendar days from the start rather than 15.
Frequently asked questions
Does it count weekends?
No. Only Monday through Friday are counted as working days. Saturdays and Sundays are always skipped, which is why the calendar-day span is longer than the working-day count.
How are holidays handled?
Enter how many weekday holidays fall within the span. Each one pushes the deadline out by an extra working day, so you still get the full number of genuine work days you asked for.
Should I count the start day?
Use “Yes” when the work begins the moment the clock starts (day 1 is today). Use “No” when the count begins the next working day, which is common for turnaround times like “ships in 15 business days”.
