Fees = revenue×final-value% + per-order fee + revenue×Promoted% · Profit = price + shipping − fees − item cost (revenue = price + shipping)
eBay’s main selling cost is the final value fee — a percentage of the total sale amount, which includes the shipping and handling you charge the buyer, not just the item price. On top of that eBay adds a small fixed fee to every order (about $0.40). If you Promote your listing, an ad rate is charged as well, but only when a buyer reaches the sale through that promotion. This tool sums the final value fee, the per-order fee and any Promoted Listings fee, subtracts your item cost, and shows profit and margin. Final value rates differ by category and seller status, so every field is editable.
Worked example
Selling a $20 item that cost $5 with no separate shipping: final value fee 13.6% = $2.72, plus the $0.40 per-order fee. Total fees $3.12, so you receive $16.88 and, after the $5 cost, keep $11.88 — a 59.4% margin. Add a 5% Promoted Listings rate and fees rise by $1.00.

Is the eBay final value fee charged on shipping too?
Yes. eBay applies the final value fee to the total amount of the sale, which includes the shipping and handling you charge the buyer, not just the item price. This calculator adds shipping into the revenue the fee is based on — set shipping to 0 for free-shipping listings.
What is the fixed per-order fee?
eBay adds a small fixed fee (about $0.40 in the US) to each order on top of the percentage final value fee. It is charged once per order regardless of how many items it contains. Adjust the field if your region’s fixed fee differs.
When do Promoted Listings fees apply?
Only when a buyer clicks your promoted (advertised) listing and buys within eBay’s attribution window. You choose the ad rate yourself. Leave the Promoted Listings field at 0 for organic sales that were not advertised.
