Facebook Marketplace Fee Calculator (Shipped vs Local Pickup)
Facebook Marketplace selling fee on shipped orders (10% per shipment or a flat fee on small orders, editable) versus free local pickup — your payout, profit after item cost, label and packaging, effective fee rate, break-even price, the price for a target profit, and a payout table across prices.
How it works
Shipped orders: order total = price + shipping charged · fee = flat fee if the total ≤ $8, otherwise max(flat fee, total × 10%) · payout = total − fee − label · profit = payout − item cost − packaging · price for a target profit = (target + costs) ÷ (1 − fee %) − shipping · local pickup: no fee
Facebook Marketplace is free for local, in-person sales. When you sell with Marketplace shipping and checkout, Meta charges a selling fee on each shipment: in the US 10% of the order total, including the shipping you charge, or a flat $0.80 on orders of $8 or less. Payment processing is included in that fee, and sales tax collected from the buyer is not part of it. If you buy the prepaid label through Marketplace its cost also comes out of your payout. This calculator shows what lands in your account, the profit after what you paid for the item and the packaging, and the true share of the buyer’s money you give up. Switch to “Target profit → price” to find the listing price that leaves the profit you want, and use the table to see how the payout changes across prices. Every rate is editable under More options, because Meta has changed the fee before (including 5% promotions) and terms differ by country.
Worked example
$35 item + $6 shipping = $41 order: the fee is 10% = $4.10 and the label $7.50, so you keep $29.40, compared with $35 handed over in person. To match the $35 local payout when shipping, list the item at about $41.22: ($35 + $7.50) ÷ 0.90 = $47.22 total, minus the $6 shipping charge. If the item cost you $15, the shipped profit is $14.40 — a 41.1% margin on the $35 price.
Frequently asked questions
Is the fee charged on shipping too?
Yes — the percentage applies to the order total the buyer pays for the item and shipping, but not to sales tax. Charging less for shipping than the label costs therefore cuts your payout twice: once in the gap and once in the lower fee base.
Is there a fee for local pickup on Facebook Marketplace?
No. Listing is free and local, in-person sales paid in cash or through a payment app carry no Marketplace fee. The selling fee applies only when the buyer checks out on Facebook and you ship the item.
What is the minimum or flat fee?
In the US, shipments of $8.00 or less pay a flat $0.80 instead of the percentage. On a $5 item with $3 shipping, that is 10% of the order — the same as the regular rate — but on a $3 order it is almost 27%. Both the flat fee and the threshold are editable here.
How do I price an item to make a set profit?
Add your target profit to the label, packaging and item cost, divide by one minus the fee rate, and subtract the shipping you charge. For a $20 profit on a $15 item with a $7.50 label and $6 shipping: ($20 + $22.50) ÷ 0.90 = $47.22, so list at $41.22. Choose “Target profit → price” and the calculator does this, including the flat-fee case.
Why did my payout arrive late?
Shipped orders pay out after the carrier confirms delivery, typically 5–15 days after the sale, to the payout method set in Commerce Manager.
