Subscription Family Plan Per Person Calculator
See the per-person cost of a shared family or group subscription plan and how much everyone saves versus individual plans.
How it works
Per person = family plan price ÷ people sharing · Saved per person = individual price − per person · Group monthly saving = individual price × people − family plan price
Streaming, music and cloud services price a family or group tier well below the sum of individual plans, betting that shared logins keep you subscribed. Dividing the family price by the number of real users shows the true per-head cost, and comparing it to a solo plan reveals the savings. The more people who split it — up to the plan's member cap — the lower each share falls.
Worked example
A $22.99 family plan split among 5 people is $4.60 each. A solo plan is $10.99, so each member saves $6.39 a month; across all five that is $31.96 a month, or about $383.52 a year the group keeps.
Frequently asked questions
What is the catch with family plans?
Most require members to share a household or a payment method, cap the number of profiles, and put billing on one person. Make sure everyone reimburses the account holder, or the "savings" just shift the cost to one person.
How many people should share?
Up to the plan's member limit. Each additional sharer lowers everyone's per-head cost, but exceeding the cap or the household rule can get accounts flagged, so stay within the terms.
How do we handle collecting money?
Have the account holder collect each person's equal share monthly. A recurring transfer or a shared-expense app keeps it simple and stops the account holder from quietly subsidizing everyone.
