Weekly Time Card Total Calculator
Add up a week of hours from a time card, split regular from overtime past 40, and see your daily average.
How it works
total = sum of daily hours · overtime = max(0, total − threshold) · regular = total − overtime · average = total ÷ days worked
Each day's hours are summed into a weekly total, then split at the overtime threshold: everything up to the threshold (40 hours under the US FLSA default) is regular and the rest is overtime. The daily average divides only by the days you actually logged time, so a day off does not drag it down. This is a straight hours total — it does not apply daily-overtime rules that some states or contracts use.
Worked example
Four 8-hour days plus one 8.5-hour Friday is 40.5 hours. With overtime starting at 40, that is 40 regular hours and 0.5 overtime hours, averaging 8.1 hours across the 5 days worked.
Frequently asked questions
Does this calculate my pay?
No — it totals hours only. Multiply the regular hours by your rate and the overtime hours by 1.5× (or your contract rate) to get gross pay, or use an overtime pay calculator.
What if my overtime starts at a different number?
Change the "Overtime after" field. Set it to 0 to treat every hour as overtime, or to a high number to count everything as regular.
Does it handle daily overtime rules?
No. Some states (like California) count overtime after 8 hours in a single day. This tool uses a weekly threshold only; check your local rules for daily overtime.
